The 10 Best Cafes in Ubud, Ranked by What You Will Actually Spend

Table of Contents8 sections

The best cafes in Ubud run from a Rp10k bakery bun to a Rp225k garden dinner. We ranked these ten by what 400 Google reviewers said they spent per person, cheapest first, and our own taste didn't come into it. Each one has its rating, hours, current menu prices, the praise and the recurring complaint.

Key Takeaways

  • Roti Bohemia is the cheapest stop on the list, and the one most likely to be sold out when you arrive: 13 of 13 reviewers who tagged a spend put it under Rp50k, and the recurring one-star is empty shelves by mid-morning.
  • Decafo Cafe holds the highest coffee rating of the ten at 4.9 from 383 reviews, and reviewers spread their spend from Rp25k to Rp125k because most of them stay for a second cup and a cake, and you probably will too.
  • Double Dragon Temple's creamy sesame noodles are Rp18k, the cheapest named dish in this guide, and the kitchen sells out of most of the menu by 6 to 7 pm.
  • Wedja and This Is Bali are the two places where reviewers most often reported Rp250k or more per person, and both add tax and service on top of the price you see on the menu: 16.8% at Wedja, 10% plus 6% at This Is Bali.
  • Every place here is open seven days except Decafo, which closes on Wednesday, and the earliest doors you'll find are Roti Bohemia and Boodaya at 7 am.

How This List Is Ranked

Most "best cafes in Ubud" guides give you a photo of a smoothie bowl and an adjective. This one is ranked by a number Google already collects. When you leave a review, Google asks what you spent per person, and your answer sits on the review as a tag such as "Rp 50 to 75K". On 15 September 2026 we read the 40 most relevant reviews on each of the ten listings, tallied those tags, and ordered the list by the middle of each spread.

Then we checked that number against what each venue publishes. Two of the ten put their full menu online for you, Wedja and This Is Bali, and a third, Boodaya, links a menu image from its Linktree. For the rest, the item prices below come from aggregator listings, and we mark them as such. Where an aggregator and a reviewer disagree, we tell you which one we trust, and why.

Ratings and review counts are Google's, from the same day, and every listing is linked so you can check the current figure yourself. Hours are Google's posted hours, and I wouldn't trust them blindly. They change often in Ubud, so treat a 7 am door as a claim you check on the day.

The 10 Best Cafes in Ubud, Cheapest First

1. Roti Bohemia, Tirta Tawar: Under Rp50k

  • Google rating: 4.8 from 249 reviews
  • Hours: Daily, 7 am to 8 pm
  • What you'll spend: Every reviewer who tagged a spend put it under Rp50k, and yours will almost certainly be too. Bread runs about Rp25k a loaf and items start around Rp10k, per reviews collected on Wanderlog; the bakery's own site publishes no prices
  • Address: Jl. Tirta Tawar, Banjar Kutuh Kaja No.57, Petulu

This is the second Roti Bohemia, a small roadside shop you'll find north of the centre that opened after the Monkey Forest original. Everything you buy is baked the same day: sourdough, baguettes, Turkish pide with cheese, mushroom or olive, brownies, and a banana caramel roti that reviewers name more than any other sweet item. You can pay by card, and there's a small strip for your motorbike.

The praise and the complaint are the same fact. Reviewers described crusty, properly sour loaves and pide straight from the oven, at prices they called low for the quality. Then they described arriving at 9 am to find much of it gone. One long-standing customer left a single star over stock they couldn't predict. There's one table, so plan on taking the bag with you.

Want your pide warm? Be there when the door opens at 7.

2. Boodaya Coffee Ubud: Rp19k to Rp50k

  • Google rating: 4.8 from 107 reviews
  • Hours: Daily, 7 am to 7 pm
  • What you'll spend: 20 of the 22 reviewers who tagged a spend said Rp25k to 50k, which is likely your bill. The menu image on the cafe's Linktree lists espresso at Rp19k, latte Rp26k, iced mocha latte Rp33k, a plain croissant Rp28k and snack plates Rp29k to 45k
  • Address: Jl. Raya Uma / Jl. Subak Sok Wayah, on the rice-field walk

Boodaya is a counter beside the paddies on the Sok Wayah walk. You reach it on foot or by bicycle, never by car. Locals fill it at sunrise, and that view is what almost every review is about. You'll see why. Coffee, matcha and the chocolate almond croissant were called good and cheap, you can pay by card, and a locally made clothing shop next door gets mentioned as a bonus.

The one recurring complaint is that every drink comes in a disposable plastic cup. That drew a one-star, a three-star and a grumble inside a five-star. Your order may be slow or forgotten when the counter gets busy, one reviewer noted a 10% tax appearing on the bill, and the seating isn't built for a long stay.

So come early, drink your coffee looking at the rice, and move on.

3. Decafo Cafe: Rp25k to Rp75k

  • Google rating: 4.9 from 383 reviews, the highest on this list
  • Hours: 9 am to 5 pm, closed Wednesday
  • What you'll spend: Restaurant Guru puts it at Rp25k to 75k per person, and Google's reviewer tags spread evenly from Rp25k up to 125k. A delivery listing shows espresso Rp20k, flat white Rp38k and hot matcha latte Rp44.5k; we couldn't find cakes priced anywhere
  • Address: Jl. A.A. Gede Rai No.90, Lodtunduh

Decafo is tiny, quiet and themed around Studio Ghibli, with ceramic mugs that have animal ears and a wall of books. Reviews from 2023 through 2026 say the same things. The flat white or espresso, from a house arabica and robusta blend, was among the best they'd had in Bali. Croissants are warmed before serving, the cakes change daily, and the owners are kind. People read or worked here for hours with soft piano playing, and I can see why you'd want to. Is it the best coffee on this list? On the ratings, yes, and I'd go there first.

Your only problem here is size. Your seat is gone by early afternoon, so several reviewers told you to come in the morning. Parking is awkward, and you can easily drive past the entrance on the Lodtunduh road. One three-star review found a small cheesecake slice expensive at Rp72k, and that's also why the spend tags run higher than a coffee shop's usually would.

4. Littletalks Ubud: Rp25k to Rp100k

  • Google rating: 4.6 from 734 reviews
  • Hours: Daily, 8 am to 6 pm
  • What you'll spend: Most reviewer tags sit between Rp50k and 75k, so plan on that for yourself. The published menu lists americano Rp28k, latte Rp32.5k, the all-day breakfast bowls Rp44.85k to 51.75k, smashed avocado on sourdough Rp49.45k and the green nasi goreng Rp51.75k
  • Address: Jl. Bisma

Littletalks is a library cafe. You get a wall of books to read, swap or buy second-hand, an attached art gallery, a leafy rooftop, and an air-conditioned room with plugs and reliable wifi. It moved to this Jl. Bisma venue around 2023, and a 2025 reviewer said the book selection improved with the move. In 2026 the reviews mention a weekend writing club and events tied to the Ubud Writers and Readers Festival. Most people come to read or work, and if you come for the food, you'll find it comes second.

You can see that in the food notes. The pink pitaya smoothie bowl, nasi goreng and nasi campur were praised, the local dishes more consistently than the Western ones. Three reviews across 2023 to 2026 called portions small for the price. Several found the coffee average or lukewarm, and the seats aren't comfortable for a long read. A 2026 two-star described a music event that started late.

It's the best place on this list to spend a morning with your laptop. For lunch, it's middling.

5. Vaniglia Gelato and Pastry: Rp30k to Rp125k

  • Google rating: 4.8 from 1,003 reviews
  • Hours: Daily, 8 am to 11 pm
  • What you'll spend: Reviewer tags cluster between Rp25k and 100k. A delivery listing shows a plain cornetto Rp30k, almond croissant Rp42k, lemon tart Rp55k and tiramisu Rp60k; a 2025 reviewer paid Rp50k for three scoops
  • Address: Jl. Raya Pengosekan

Vaniglia is a two-storey Italian gelato and pastry cafe on the Pengosekan road, and it makes the list because of the closing time. It's open until 11 pm, and several reviewers said it was the only dessert place they found open after dinner. Pistachio, biscoff and lemon are the flavours named most, then the biscoff cheesecake and the croissants. Staff let you taste several flavours before you choose, and I'd take them up on it. There are vegan flavours, including a pistachio on oat milk, and an upstairs room where you look into the trees.

The complaints are small scoops for the price, desserts some found too sweet, and heat in the open-air room. One three-star described floors being mopped with strong chemicals beside diners during service. The brunch menu exists and was rated fine. But would you come here for eggs? Nobody does.

6. Double Dragon Temple: Rp18k to Rp125k

  • Google rating: 4.7 from 822 reviews
  • Hours: Daily, 8:30 am to 9 pm
  • What you'll spend: Ten of the 25 reviewers who tagged a spend said Rp75k to 100k, and that's about what you'll pay for a proper meal. The itemised listing has the sesame noodles at Rp18k, five pork dumplings Rp42k, ten for Rp75k, three steamed buns Rp35k, and a thirty-dumpling sharing plate at Rp200k
  • Address: Jl. Monkey Forest, in an alley

Five tables, an open kitchen and a Chinatown look, down a lane off Monkey Forest Road that you reach on foot or by motorbike. The creamy sesame noodles appear in roughly a quarter of the reviews we read, and they're the single most recommended dish in this guide. If you want a second dish, pan-fried prawn, pork or chicken dumplings, garlic scallion noodles and bang bang chicken follow. Your food arrives in 10 to 15 minutes, chili oil comes on the side, and small plates let you order across the menu. Reviewers also pointed you to the owner's coffee place across the lane.

Three complaints recur, and you should know all three. The menu sells out by 6 to 7 pm, and four reviewers found most of it gone. Portions are small, and one said a hungry adult needs two noodle orders. And the dinner waiting list moves slowly, with nowhere to stand. A three-star at 9 am found half the breakfast menu not yet ready.

Go for your dinner early, at 5 pm, and the price line above holds for you.

7. Cafe Lilu: Rp50k to Rp150k

  • Google rating: 4.9 from 281 reviews
  • Hours: Daily, 8 am to 7 pm
  • What you'll spend: Restaurant Guru gives Rp50k to 150k per person and the reviewer tags centre on Rp100k to 125k. No item prices are published anywhere we could read, so the figure we give you is the aggregator's
  • Address: Jl. Nyuh Bojog, on the edge of Monkey Forest

Cafe Lilu opened recently, with a January 2026 review calling it new. It sits so close to the Monkey Forest that you watch the monkeys from a glass-enclosed upstairs room while you eat. The menu is vegetarian, labels vegan and gluten-free clearly, and is organised around the phases of the menstrual cycle, with symbols on each dish and a booklet explaining why. A house-made pumpkin seed milk latte was mentioned more than any dish. The papaya boat, sourdough with baba ganoush and poached eggs, and the smoothie bowls came next. Several people described it as very quiet and worked there for half a day.

Complaints are rare, at 270 five-stars out of 281. But the one two-star matters if you ride. It describes monkeys damaging two scooters parked where staff directed, with no warning and an unsatisfying response from the owner. Two four-star reviewers found the coffee weaker than elsewhere and the avocado toast barely toasted, and prices were noted as a little higher than the cafes around it.

Riding a scooter? Ask where it's safe to park, then look for yourself.

8. 7AM Bakers and 7PM Diners: Rp75k to Rp225k

  • Google rating: 4.6 from 1,798 reviews
  • Hours: Daily, 7 am to midnight
  • What you'll spend: Restaurant Guru gives Rp75k to 225k per person and the reviewer tags centre on Rp125k to 150k. An August 2025 delivery listing shows a butter croissant Rp37.1k, almond croissant Rp55k, quiche Lorraine Rp75.6k, a latte Rp55k and an iced matcha latte Rp89.4k; delivery menus can carry a mark-up you won't pay in person, and the venue's own site publishes no prices
  • Address: Jl. Raya Pengosekan No.2013B, Mas

7AM Bakers is the big one: an industrial-style bakery and cafe on the Pengosekan road with a playground, a real car park, strong wifi, sofas, and seating indoors, upstairs and in a garden. Reviewers used it as a family breakfast spot and as a work base in roughly equal measure, and you could do either, and in Ubud the car park alone earns it a place. Croissants, including pistachio and a Dubai-style one, the salmon and spinach quiche, and a Japanese soft cheesecake were named most. The savoury dishes drew steadier praise than the sweets. After 7 pm it serves dinner mains, so you can stay right through.

The complaints cluster around service coordination: fries arriving before the sandwich, a missing ingredient still charged, no glass of water, no apology. One three-star found the pastry case empty by 10 am. If you don't smoke, know that smokers and non-smokers share the outdoor area, and two one-star reviews found the coffee and desserts poor for the money.

It's the most expensive bakery on this list. It's also the easiest place to spend your whole day.

9. Wedja Restaurant: Rp75k to Rp225k Plus 16.8%

  • Google rating: 4.7 from 6,024 reviews
  • Hours: Daily, 8 am to 10 pm
  • What you'll spend: Seven of the 26 reviewers who tagged a spend said Rp250k or more, the most of any place we checked. Wedja's own menu prices the half duck timbungan at Rp159k, bebek betutu Rp150k, chicken nasi goreng Rp78k, sate lilit Rp70k, spring rolls Rp45k and a latte Rp38k, with a 16.8% tax and service charge on top. A whole roast bebek guling for the table is Rp399k
  • Address: Jl. Ambarawati, Mas

Wedja is a garden restaurant in Mas, south of the centre, with waterfalls, koi and lotus ponds, mirrors, fog machines and photo spots. The gardens are why most people came, and several said they found it on TikTok. You may have too. Duck and chicken timbungan, cooked in bamboo, the smoked betutu, tuna jaw and grilled beef ribs are the dishes named most, and portions were called large. If you visit on a weekday, you'll likely get a table without booking, parking is plentiful, and the walk in takes you past souvenir shops for two or three minutes. At night, with the walkways lit, reviewers described a different place.

The recurring complaint, in four three-stars and one five-star, is that the food doesn't match the setting: dry or bland duck, chicken and satay. Several accounts called service slow or absent, with drinks after food and plates left uncleared, and one 7:30 pm diner found their first three choices sold out. You'll eat in large shared halls, away from the plants, and the long walk in has no signage.

Go for the gardens, and treat the food as part of the ticket.

10. This Is Bali: About Rp80k to Rp175k Plus 16%

  • Google rating: 4.9 from 18,786 reviews, the most reviewed place in Ubud on this list
  • Hours: Daily, 11 am to 11 pm
  • What you'll spend: Nine of the 25 reviewers who tagged a spend said Rp225k or more, which puts it last on our list. The April 2026 menu on the restaurant's site is a build-your-own nasi campur: white pandan rice Rp14k, jackfruit curry Rp18k, chicken skewers Rp37k, caramel beef Rp47k, a Bali coffee Rp47k and a mango coconut smoothie Rp57k, plus 10% tax and 6% service. The older fixed bowls at Rp125.5k to 168.5k that aggregators still list are the previous menu
  • Address: Jl. Goutama No.2

This Is Bali is a busy, modern Balinese restaurant on Jl. Goutama. You build your bowl by stamping a card and call staff with a bell at the table, and reviewers found the system fun and fast. Beef rendang, jackfruit curry and chicken skewers were named most, and I'd start your card with those. Service gets praise in nearly every review: complimentary lemongrass honey peanuts, cold towels, the occasional free dessert, and staff who checked allergies and vegetarian choices without being asked. The food is halal with no pork, alcohol is served, and nearly everyone told you to book, because a queue builds by 7 pm.

The reservations are about flavour. Several four-star reviews found dishes mild or underseasoned for the price, and one had tough, overcooked chicken curry. An elevated booth with narrow open stairs and an unmarked floor step tripped a family, so watch your feet. Drinks arrived after the food in two accounts, and the front-room tables are close together.

Eighteen thousand reviews at 4.9 say the system works. So the question is yours: do you want a bowl built to a card, or a plate built to a cook?

Three Ways to Use This List of the Best Cafes in Ubud

If You Are Counting Rupiah

Roti Bohemia and Boodaya give you a Rp50k morning between them: bread from the first, coffee at the second, and the rice-field walk connects them if you're on foot. Double Dragon's Rp18k noodles are the cheapest cooked dish you'll find here. Decafo is the best coffee per rupiah, if you can get a seat before lunch.

If You Are Working

Littletalks and 7AM Bakers are the two places reviewers describe using for a whole day, and they solve different problems for you. Littletalks gives you the books, the gallery and the cool indoor room, with seats people found hard on the back. 7AM Bakers gives you the car park, the sofas and the playground, and your bill roughly doubles. Decafo and Cafe Lilu are quiet enough to work in. They're also small enough that you'll feel it if you overstay.

If You Want the Ubud Postcard

Wedja is the one place on this list of the best cafes in Ubud that's a destination more than a cafe, and reviewers were clear that you go for the gardens and accept the food. This Is Bali is the more reliable plate and the harder table for you to get. Book it. And Cafe Lilu gives you the monkeys through glass for the price of your breakfast.

If You Run a Cafe in Ubud

Do you own a cafe in Ubud? Then look at how this list was built. Everything came from what Google already shows about each place: the rating, the review count, the posted hours, and the price tag reviewers attach to their own visits. None of the ten paid to be here and none was asked. That's also how most of your visitors choose. The two things that moved a place up or down this list were a complete, accurate listing and the pattern in its last forty reviews.

The mechanics of a listing that works aren't specific to Bali. Our earlier post on how a Google Business Profile listing is read was written for Australian dental practices, and every point in it about hours, categories and photos applies to a warung on Jl. Goutama. If you'd rather someone did the work, we do local search and reviews. The boundary is the one we hold everywhere. We'll get your listing right and answer your reviews. We won't write them.

Common Questions

How were the best cafes in Ubud chosen for this list?

The ten came from our saved shortlist, and the data set the order for us. We used the "Price per person" tag Google attaches to reviews, tallied across the 40 most relevant reviews on each listing on 15 September 2026. Then we checked it against each venue's published menu, where you can find one. Ratings, review counts and hours are Google's from the same day, and you can open each listing to check. And for every place, you get the recurring complaint printed beside the praise.

Which cafe in Ubud has the best coffee according to Google reviews?

Decafo Cafe, on Jl. A.A. Gede Rai in Lodtunduh. It holds the highest rating of the ten places in this guide, 4.9 from 383 Google reviews on 15 September 2026. Reviewers most often called its flat white and espresso, from a house arabica and robusta blend, the best coffee they had in Bali. It seats very few of you at once. It opens 9 am to 5 pm and closes on Wednesdays, so go in the morning.

What is the cheapest cafe in Ubud on this list?

Roti Bohemia's Tirta Tawar bakery. Every Google reviewer who tagged a spend put it under Rp50k. Loaves run about Rp25k and small items start around Rp10k. It's take-away with one table, and it sells out early, often by 9 am, so get there before you get hungry. Your next cheapest is Boodaya Coffee on the rice-field walk, with espresso at Rp19k. Most of its reviewers reported Rp25k to 50k for a coffee and a pastry.

How much does a meal cost at Wedja in Ubud?

Wedja's own menu, which you can read on wedjabali.com, prices the half duck timbungan at Rp159k, smoked bebek betutu at Rp150k, chicken nasi goreng at Rp78k and a latte at Rp38k. Your bill gets 16.8% tax and service on top. Seven of the 26 Google reviewers who tagged a spend reported Rp250k or more per person. So with a main, a drink and the charges, you'll most likely pay between Rp150k and Rp250k.

Do I need to book This Is Bali in Ubud?

Yes, for dinner. This Is Bali on Jl. Goutama had 18,786 Google reviews at 4.9 on 15 September 2026. Reviewers kept describing a queue by 7 pm, and they told you to reserve. I would. It opens 11 am to 11 pm, and if you go at lunch, reviewers found it easier. The April 2026 menu is a build-your-own nasi campur ordered by stamp card. Rice starts at Rp14k and protein toppings at Rp37k, plus 10% tax and 6% service.

Which Ubud cafes are good for working on a laptop?

Littletalks on Jl. Bisma and 7AM Bakers on Jl. Raya Pengosekan. Google reviewers describe using both for a full day, and you can too. Littletalks has a book wall, an art gallery and an air-conditioned room with plugs and reliable wifi, open 8 am to 6 pm. 7AM Bakers has strong wifi, sofas, a car park and a playground, open 7 am to midnight, at roughly double the spend. Decafo and Cafe Lilu are quiet, but you'll fill them fast.

Is Double Dragon Temple in Ubud worth it?

For an early dinner, yes. The creamy sesame noodles are Rp18k, and about a quarter of the 40 Google reviews we read named them. Five pork dumplings are Rp42k and ten are Rp75k. The two recurring complaints are small portions and a menu that sells out by 6 to 7 pm, with a slow waiting list and nowhere to stand. So aim for the 5 pm sitting.

Where is the Ubud cafe with the rice field view?

Boodaya Coffee Ubud. It sits on the Sok Wayah rice-field walk, where Jl. Raya Uma meets Jl. Subak Sok Wayah, and you reach it on foot or by bicycle, never by car. It opens at 7 am, and Google reviewers told you to go at sunrise. Coffee is Rp19k to 33k on the menu image the cafe links from its Linktree. The one recurring complaint is the disposable plastic cup every drink comes in.

Which cafe in Ubud is best for vegetarian and vegan food?

Cafe Lilu on Jl. Nyuh Bojog. It's fully vegetarian, with vegan and gluten-free dishes labelled, and its menu follows the phases of the menstrual cycle, with a booklet explaining each. It sits on the edge of Monkey Forest and opens 8 am to 7 pm. Google reviewers reported spending Rp100k to 125k per person, so budget the same for yourself. This Is Bali also lists vegan toppings, including jackfruit curry at Rp18k, and it's halal with no pork.

Are the prices for the best cafes in Ubud in this guide current?

We retrieved the Google ratings, review counts and hours on 15 September 2026. Menu prices come from Wedja's and This Is Bali's own published menus, Boodaya's menu image, and third-party listings for the others, each linked beside the figure. Delivery listings can carry a mark-up, which you won't pay at the counter. Ubud menus change often. Check each number against the board when you're there.
